Microsoft has joined the Linux Foundation, no less than as a Platinum member, making it one of the institution’s largest contributors.

“We want to help developers achieve more and capitalise on the industry’s shift toward cloud-first and mobile-first experiences using the tools and platforms of their choice,” Microsoft’s VP of Cloud and Enterprise Scott Guthrie says.

Microsoft’s objective is to collaborate with the community, they have been porting several of their technologies to open source, knowing that there is a new scenario with applications in the cloud, these steps allow them to offer developers tools that make them more innovative.

This goes according to his Microsoft loves Linux speech.
